The wedding assassin game: turn strangers into co-conspirators

At most weddings, half the guests have never met the other half. The assassin game gives them a reason to strike up a conversation, from cocktail hour to the dance floor, as everyone tries to get their secret target to complete a silly mission without noticing. Guests just scan a QR code, no app needed.

Sample missions

  • ●Get your target to say the word 'confetti'.
  • ●Get your target to imitate the photographer shouting 'Everybody say cheese!'.
  • ●Get your target to tell you their favourite moment of the ceremony.
  • ●Get your target to compliment the bride's dress or the groom's suit.
  • ●Get your target to hold your wedding favour for you.
  • ●Get your target to point at their own name on the seating plan.

24 missions written for this occasion, plus 120 general ones: you pick the theme, the difficulty and family-friendly mode.

How it works

  1. 1Create your game and print the poster with its QR code.
  2. 2Guests scan it with their phone and sign up in 20 seconds.
  3. 3Start the game: everyone discovers their target and mission on their screen.
  4. 4Mission done? The target shows their kill code, the hunter enters it and inherits the target's target.

Tips for organizers

  • Put the QR code poster by the bar or the guest book during cocktail hour, so people join while they mingle and wait for dinner.
  • Decide early whether the couple plays. Including them makes for great stories; leaving them out lets them enjoy the day as amused spectators.
  • Announce the winner between dinner and the first dance, and have a small prize ready, like a bottle of bubbly or the right to pick the next song.

Questions

Should the couple know about the game?

It's up to you. Best men and maids of honor often set it up as a surprise. If the couple plays, keep missions light so nobody gets distracted during the vows, speeches or cake cutting.

Can kids and grandparents play too?

Yes. Turn on family-friendly mode and every mission stays wholesome. Anyone with a phone can join, and younger kids can team up with a parent.
